Based on the Golden Eagle of Scotland in its natural Highland habitat. Inspiration is gained by close observation to nature.
This painting may be read in two ways. The first is the natural depiction of the bird in its habitat, the second is that the word 'Volant' is translated to mean flying and is to be found in Heraldry.

This painting, depicting a Gold Panner working the water,
is based on a popular pastime which is popular here in my village in Scotland which is renowned for its Gold.
The pan contains actual pieces of Gold found here in the burn.
Acrylic on Canvas board.
Finished size 17" x 13" approx.
Based on an 18th c. Scene of a group of curlers playing a rink on a curling pond here in Scotland on a winters day.
The attention to the smallest detail and the winter light is typical of my work and reflects the way that nature is an ever present inspiration.
